May I enroll for dance classes year round? At Dance South we follow a 10 month curriculum for our dance classes, so we are not able to take enrollment year round. Our program starts in August and runs through May. While it is best to start class at the beginning of our school year, students are accepted through January. Spring Dance Camp and Summer Dance Camp classes are also offered each year.
-
Is the Spring Performance mandatory?Participation in our annual Spring Performance is NOT mandatory. The Spring Performance is an extension of your child's dance education and is great fun for the dancers, their families, and friends. We highly encourage taking part of this wonderful experience.
-
Does your studio have sprung floors and mirrors?Yes. For the saftey of our dancers, our studios all have sprung or floating floors with professional, Marley style floorings. Each studio is also equipped with full length mirrors and ballet barres.
-
Are specific clothes and shoes required for dance class?During our school year program, we do require specific dancewear for class. Each genre of dance requires different clothing and shoes. We believe that a student dressed in the appropriate uniform will be more successful in class. Dance South offers students high quality dance apparel and shoes by CAPEZIO at 20-30% off retail stores. We will let you know the specific items you will need for class at registration.
-
May parents stay in the class with their child? Our lobby is open again! We continue to suggest social distancing and please stay home if you are sick to prevent the spread of Covid 19. We ask that parents wait in the lobby while your child is in class. Glass doors to the studios and monitors in the lobby allow you to watch class in its entirety.
-
Is your studio anything like "Dance Moms"?"At Dance South, we are a family. Our dance educators are highly qualified but most of all nurturing. We want each student to be happy and successful, whether she is taking dance for fun and recreation or plans to pursue dance in college.
