Dance South is excited to offer a diverse curriculum ranging from the
pre-school student to the advanced student, and strives to meet each student's
individual needs, whether they are a dedicated pre-professional or the
individual who wants to learn the art of dance for fun. Dance South is
committed to the development of each student's fullest potential by offering a
positive atmosphere where every student will learn proper dance technique
from caring, professional instructors. The goal of the school is to teach
students of all levels and ages dance for enjoyment, while instilling in them a
love and appreciation of the art of dance.
Offering classes in classical and contemporary ballet, pointe, jazz, tap,
lyrical/modern, and hiphop, Dance South focuses strongly on technique.
Students are instructed in the Vaganova and Cecchetti ballet technique.
Knowing that performance technique is also crucial to a dancer's education,
Dance South encourages students to further their training through
performance opportunities made available throughout the year.
The Company is Dance South's Youth Dance Ensemble. This group
represents Dance South as ambassadors for the cultural and performing arts,
by promoting dance within the community. They have been invited to
perform for the Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, many local nursing homes,
the Sumner County Symphony, and fund raising events for the American
Cancer Society and Breast Cancer Awareness Group. Seeing a need to further
promote the arts in our public schools, Dance South's Company also visits the
local elementary and middle schools at Christmas and/or National Dance
Week for performances and lectures.
